  • OK, now this is more like it. Given the last bottle showed a bit of spritz and VA I was worried that all the bottles may be off. This was great! Deeply pitched fruit and fresh tilled dark earth. Juicy and full with a mineral twang to the black fruits, leather, spice, and purple flower top note. You can feel the old vine sinew and there is still structure. This should age and develop other nuances but it's right in a perfect zone for me.

  • Not sure what happened here, seemed a bit spiky. Certainly a bit of VA. Will have to try another bottle soon.

  • Nez de cerises du Nord, noyau de cerise, grande complexité... Très puissant, très beau tannin, fruits rouges et noirs, à besoin de 5-10 ans supplémentaires pour être à son maximum!!

  • Desvignes is a family of Morgon vignerons from the 18th century. Javernieres is a lieu-dit, while the Impenitents is the top wine from Javernieres with some vines over 100 years old.

Aromas of chocolate covered cherries and iron. Pretty vibrant but also quite deep and serious. Rather savoury and dry. Dried herbs and strawberries and cherries dominate the palate. There's a little bit of heat (14% abv) but it blows off after a bit. Some air brings out some sweet spice notes. There is a bit of tannin action going on. Good length. Rather surprised I drank it so fast.

This is about as serious as a Beaujolais can get. Very good, and nice to drink now, but will no doubt reward some ageing.

  • Very dark; initially smart nose, palate all over the the place - at one stage there was a corky hint. Definitely in the natural spectrum, the bouquet moved in a strange phase. Towards the end this cleans up, showed some polish & dash, with contained alcohol. Not for the faint hearted. Very interesting & merits a revisit.
