  • Marques de Murrieta dinner. Tasted after the Capellania. Salmon pink. Light weight and lean, slightly weightier than the Capellania tasted before. Quite dry with a hint of tannic bitterness. Lacks generosity of fruit. Rather like Provençal roses in the simple, fresh, light style for easy drinking.

  • Spain Trip (w/ some Rioja gems): Tasted at the winery. 100% Mazuelo with 90 years of average age. My first encounter with a Mazuelo wine and this was very nice. While the nose needed some time to open up the palate was good from the go. Not that complex but still a very pleasant Rose.

TN: No nose at first but more open with candied strawberries and rose hip after some swirling. Sweet straberries, fine herbs rose hip, mont cherie embedded in a harmonious palate with a creamy texture. Medium- intensity but fairly well delineated. Not overly long but still quite a fine Rose.

    Decanting: No decant needed.

  • Tasted at the winery along a wine pairing lunch. The only 100% Mazuelo Rosé out there, made from vines averaging 90yrs of age. Restrained, but impressively delicate nose of strawberries, herbal tea and some minerality. Fresh and crisp acidity and some fruity notes still too. Surprisingly fine and complex for a Rosé! This is nothing that would help to pay the bills, we were explained, but Marques the Murrieta wanted to have a prestige Rosé - including fancy bottle and everything - just as for show and reputation.

  • Made from 100pc Mavuelo (Carignan). Fancy bottle and packaging. Someone has put a lot of effort into creating a flagship rose for reasons I can only guess. Salmon pink. Concentrated nose- a hint of strawberry and cream. Quite austere and serious. Very dry on the palate, crisp fruit and almost a bit of tannic grip. Excellent stuff but I cannot get my head around the price (c€30).
