Opaque red/purple slight brick border, long legs. Nose; dark forest fruit berries, vanilla, licorice, cigar box, oak. Palate tanins still present but not overwhelming balanced acidity medium weight and aftertaste . Nice wine in its price range probably good for another 5 years well kept,

Oak and cedar on the nose along with some ripe berries. The ripe berry note really comes through on the palate through the finish. Fairly light on the palate, but nicely balanced and good acidity.

Tasted blind. Med (+) ruby, with a garnet rim and a dark, cloudy core. Clean, tart red fruit, black plum, with a fair amount of oak spice (2 yrs in used American oak). Dry, with med to med (+) acidity, med (+) resolving tannins, high alcohol (14.2%). Nice mouthfeel, with med (+) body, flavor intensity and length. Very good quality and surprisingly youthful at seven years.
By the time you rule out Cabernet Sauvignon, Cab blends (no pyrazines), Italian varieties (no VA or Brett) and Syrah (no rotundone), you are left with few testable options. A little too understated to be Zin or Australian Grenache. The American oak and relatively lighter color points away from Malbec.

Needs some decanting, but opens up quickly in the glass after aeration. Dry and minerally. Good price for an 8 year old wine
