Dark Ruby, Nose: Red fruit, cedar. Palete: Cherry, Raspberry, Nice fruit, balanced, smooth tannins, acid on the med/high side. Summary: Reminds somewhat of a Cab Franc (which not is a favorite varietal), but on the more full/med body style. Can drink without food, it´s so smooth. With this balance you should not overdo the cooking, keep it simple with clean tastes and perhaps a bite of read meat

One of the wines for the online tasting with Martine Sauner who is just delightful and has wonderful stories about getting into the wine business back in the 60's mostly because at that point the US hadn't figured out how to get good French wine sent over (esp from places like Burgundy/Rhone/etc.). So tasting a wine is a bit about place and time and people and this was a wine that had a good version of that even if with this crisis everything was online. As previous notes mention it is a bit of a beast and I'm interested to see how it does on a second day (we saved some). Higher alc than I would have expected -15%. But it doesn't taste like that. It's a more muted, lower fruit, slightly tight wine. One of those very affordable old world wines that is still quaffable (a category it feels like most US wineries don't have maybe because the land hasn't been in the family for generations). Made more for food and really for things like game. Martine had served it with lamb on Easter Sunday and that sounds about perfect.

Spicey and peppery. Lovely nose. Cranberries in the mouth. Together with loads of spices and raspberries/liqourice. Rather harsh day 1. Saving half.
Day 2 and it's juicier, better balanced and more fruit. Day 1 it probably needed food. Day 2 it is beautiful on it's own. Great QPR as always. 88.
