Excellent cork. Decanted due to age and reputation as tannic, but I was surprised that the solids were minimal so it decanted cleanly. Quite dark, narrow meniscus. Lively nose and flavour. Solid and although somewhat tannic, it was well integrated in its ripe vintage style. Plenty of fruit, so might age well, but I have a feeling that it migjt be near its peak, though a few years will make no difference. Very enjoyable amongst several 2005s, but really not my idea of Burgundy.

Corked. Super bummed after holding this bottle for 16 years and looking forward to it. No other corked reviews ?! Yet a lot of blah reviews for a cherished vineyard , makes me wonder if others didn’t recognize the cork taint.

Opens up with mineral and black cherries. Oak is in check. Very good fruit concentration; but the tannins are very firm; giving this wine a rustic edge. I’m sue there is still upside; but I don’t think these astringent tannins are going away with age. Here is a Red Burgundy to match with game, lamb or steak. Decanting could help; but I’d try to do a food pairing to reduce the tannin sensation.

Decanted. Firm tannins at first. A bit astringent before open ending up after a couple hours open. Became richer and juicier at end. I’ll hopefully wait 3 years for next of 3.

(Chateau de la Tour Clos Vougeot) Painfully young but oh so much fruit and classic Clos Vougeot. Stunning, piercing minerality of the stone kind with a bit of oak but this wine is massive . . .almost cabernet-like structure. Wow this needs time. Wonderful, pure and very concentrated witha finish that lasts a while. We did not give this enough time but if we did this woild have stopped many many shows. The Vieilles Vignes is crazy and one of the monuments of the vintage. I would love to taste some old wines from this storied domaine.

Dark brooding wine, which remains quite tannic on palate. Needs a lot of time, perhaps too early to judge.
