Jim's Retirement Party (Libertyville, IL): Small glass. Easily enough mature red and black fruit alongside the expected acidity and structure. Good+ length and weight, while still well balanced. I fortunately got an early pour shortly after this was opened. Other similarly experienced Burgundy enthusiasts also enjoyed this wine's charms. 90-91 points for today's pleasure, but that understates the "birth year" enjoyment for the host.

Jim's Retirement Party (Libertyville, IL): Alas, too far gone for my taste. Fairly dirty with plenty of earthy funk, and a pronounced autumnal/mulchy quality. The palate is thinning and slightly metallic in character.
