Decanted for 2 hours. Beautiful ruby red color. Cherries on the nose and a definitive cab bouquet. Smooth tannins, full-bodied, with a silky mouthfeel, and a long, long finish that leaves you wanting another sip. Drinking wonderfully right now, but should be good for another five years at least. Bummed this is my last bottle!

Very dark in the glass, with a nice ruby rim and perhaps a touch of orange just beginning around the edges. The nose is very sweet, almost perfumed, with pink flower, cotton candy, sweet cherries, and a touch of wet cedar. Fresh and exciting, the nose grabs you and draws you in for a sip. The opening flavors on the palate are sour cherry and a hint of darker cassis, and those give way to a big, mouth-filling mid-palate with plenty of well-integrated tannic structure. Rather than being sweet on the palate, it is actually slightly astringent, but that works well with the medium or greater acidity. As the big flavors fade, they reveal the oak, but also some secondary characteristics of pine mulch and a warm, rich earthiness. The finish is long and lingering, balancing the fruit and secondary notes with the acidity and tannin. The mouthfeel is smooth and silky, and this wine seems to still have enough fruit and structure in good enough balance to last another ten years. Perfectly paired with a charcoal-grilled, simply-seasoned ribeye, this wine adds a fruity element to the meal and cuts through the fat of the steak perfectly. I really enjoyed this wine, which gave more expensive wines from big-name California vineyards a real run for their money. I can't wait to try this producer's wines when they are sourced from those same famed vineyards. Really, really nice effort that was well worth the $50+ price paid. My wife immediately said, "We haven't had a Cabernet this good in quite a while." I agree, and I wish I could afford to drink like this more often. Very well done.

Not quite as good as our last bottle as this one seems very, very slightly corked - glad we are drinking it now, as it would only get worse. It's very faint, but TCA does mute the fruit and give a slight overall bitterness to a wine. Still clearly a fantastic Cabernet, and it is evident to me why I have half a dozen bottles of Jean Edwards Cab in the cellar. Rich, silky mouthfeel, full red and black fruits on the palate, finish cut short a bit by the TCA. One more bottle in the cellar - hoping for better success!

This still tastes young, yet at the same time fully integrated and drinking beautifully. The aromas are vibrant fresh red fruit- cherries, raspberries, currants. Also hints of cocoa, twigs and earth. The palate is equally fresh and vibrant- cherries, red licorice, red currant, cocoa, earth. Medium-bodied with noticeable but balanced oak. Medium acidity, integrated tannins, medium finish. This was great paired with a ribeye. Very elegant and in my opinion a perfect example of what a Napa cabernet should be. Sadly my only bottle.

Pretty nose of ripe black cassis, anise and cardamom. Did I say pretty? Palate shows a super expressive, quietly elegant Napa Cabernet with tons of finesse and structure. Tannins seem nicely resolved and complicated. Overall balance is perfect. A contemplative wine that makes you want to just sit and enjoy; when you do you will find layer upon layer of all things Cab-good; I get some soft pillowy gushy blackberries, plum and cedar with a hint of rubber leather. The black fruits just ride the full distance and remain in play for a minute plus, beckoning you back. I know Karen is proud of this one and rightfully so. Great job and I could not think of a better way to end my 2012 than with a pleasing classy Napa Cabernet from Stagecoach vineyard made by passionate people.
