  • Not bad. Balanced and pleasant but nothing jumps out. Better on day two. I would guess better in a year, but doesn't have the structure to go for 10.

  • There is a label on the neck which mentions “Luca Maroni” and “98”. I wonder. The wine feels forced and pumped up. There are ripe black cherries, and notes of nutmeg and dark chocolate, but the underlying material feels a unripe and the bitters are on the rough side. I have no idea about the grape varieties used, but there is no Sangiovese typicity whatsoever. Don’t bother. (84). It’s actually much better on the second day, more harmonious and integrated, with Merlot richness shining through, and the rough edges seem to have mellowed, even though some green apple remains on the finish. (87).
