Simon Beatty's Memorial Dinner - Table 2 - Richebourg (Noizé, London): A little petillant on pouring (the wine had been breathing for an hour in an open bottle at this point) which soon vanishes with some swirling. There is a blackcurrant quality to the nose with a little ground white pepper. Palate has more of the same but if being picky finishes with a little bitterness.

For about 45 minutes, this was a magnificent Mazis-Chambertin, the way old Maumes can be -- dark fruits, concentrated, and supremely wild. And then brett set in (note: I have a high tolerance for brett, so others may have been disturbed by this earlier). Even with the brett, I can still drink the wine, but it's no longer a thing of wonder. Cellared since original release.

Fine Wines SG - Burgundy Grand Cru Tasting (Fine Wines SG): Colour still looks freshly rubied, very interesting floral earthy nose, starting with orchids, then lemon flowers. On palate, strongly acidic with red cherries and lemon flowers, with fragrant powdery lemons towards the back

Musty, mushroom with some cherry. Straight forward. Balanced.
