After decanting half the bottle for 90 mins this is in a really nice place. There's an obvious elegance on the nose that only comes with age.
As time passes this transitions from its Calicab pedigree being obvious to far more nuanced on the palate; It's there if you know it and are looking for it, but it's just as easy to confuse this for a Bordeaux, something I wouldn't have said an hour ago.
Black tea, cigar, leaf, and bar are all nicely intermingle with mature, dark fruit The chose a little bit of sweetness on the front to mid pallet finish.
As others note the finish was initially lacking, seemingly brief and light across the palate. As this passes the two hour mark its adding weight, even if I'd like a slightly longer finish.
As others also note, I too increasingly struggle with Chappellet's new price point, and will only purchase today when I find it under $70 at a supermarket discount. This was a steal @ 45 And I wish I had more. Certainly good for several more years if stored and handled properly.

I echo GJVines. Decanted briefly and drank over 2 hours. Initially a bit thin in the mid palate but gained heft over the next two hours or so. Medium complexity with intense but integrated flavor with some life left. Wish I had more especially at the $60 I paid. Not sure these are worth it at their current price though.

Good, but a bit thin mid-palate, and day 2 was coming apart. Not even close the 2014 Ridge Estate Cab we had a few weeks ago. If I had any more, I would drink them soon.
