Colour: pale gold, bright, clear. Remarkably pale. Nose: full, fresh, yeasty leading to good ripe fruit, Taste: light body, rounded, creamy, yeasty, good fruit and acidity balance, perhaps a slightly loose knit, v dry finish, crisp, citrus notes and yeasty hints. Overall, an elegant Margaret River Chardonnay from a great old name. Good value too for the pedigree although on the less concentrated side.

New Years Eve (Home, Utrecht): Medium lemon with medium+ intensity on the nose. Quite reductive (in a pleasant way), ripe citrus, mango, white peach, toast, flinty. Medium bodied, medium+ acidity and a long finish. Gorgeous bottle, especially considering its price tag. Blind I might have called chassagne. 90-91

Yes this is well made modern Australian Chardonnay but the standards are really high nowadays and after multiple bottles I can’t say I love this wine. There’s a fair degree of oak, but it isn’t too much, that isn’t the problem, it’s a lack of expressive fruit or character. This is modern textbook and a tad boring.
I’m damming a good wine with feint praise but so be it.
13%, screwcap.

Intensity medium(+). Citrus, stone fruit, tropical elements (passion fruit, mango), oak, with reductive character. Acidity medium(+). Finish medium(+).
