decanted about 2.5 hours before dinner. This is a de Grazia wine, from height of modernista era, I’ve had a few trainwrecks from then, but this is not OTT, quite drinkable if maybe a tad anonymous, Sweet cherries, red plum, moderate acids, not much tannin left. Ready to drink, juicy red thst doesn’t scream Piedmont but is fun to drink. B/B-

The bottle was in perfect condition: High fill, the cork was only half soaked. Upon opening, the wine seemed to lack energy, structure and concentration and tasted flabby and flat, but it slowly found itself as it breathed in the decanter and gained flesh and became fairly balanced after about 2 1/2 hours of aeration. The wine then offered sweet red fruit, sweet cherry, iron and earthy notes on the nose and palate, with high acidity and good upfront fruit concentration. From the middle and through the finish the wine was thinner, but with good length. Clearly not the most structured or complex Barolo (which is not to be expected from the entry-level bottling of Azelia's Barolo range, of course), but smoothly textured and fairly balanced after some time in the decanter. The wine improved from an 87 to an 88 to an 89+ in the course of the evening and drank well. 89+

The rim is bricked while the core is maroon. A very interesting nose. Not an ordinary ho-hum nose and yet, not a blockbuster either. Soft cherry loiters in the background along with leather note; something herbal as well, maybe eucalyptus, some hazelnut and brazil-nut. I cannot recall ever having a wine with a brazil-nut profile. And while I do not like brazil-nuts, this is intriguing. An interesting wine. 14% alc. With ravioli. Recommended.

Quite nice, mature barolo, balanced, nice aromatics, showing quite a bit of fruit character still.

deep red with some bricking. Holding up very well at 21 and may last a few more years. Nice complexity and enjoyed by all.
