  • Taste CA Wines + 1 OR Pinot Noir (San Diego Wine Co.): “74% Zin, 16% P.S., 8% Tempranillo, & 2% Alicante Bouschet; $25 sugg retail;”

N: Closed; INITIAL forest floor QUICKLY blows off to ripe berries

P: LM body; NICE, ALMOST swtish frt (approaching threshold R.S.?) met by an astringent pucker which stays within hailing distance of the init frt as it works its way into a LONG, balanced finish with a tangy/swtness to the DUSTY tannins. NEEDS 12-18 mos, then drinking for 2-3 yrs more. 15% ABV; My VG+/EXC-, & I suppose one could argue for the higher based upon the QPR of a wine that should be able to take a BIT of aging. 90 pts ea Wine & Spirits ("Best Buy," 3/'19), Vinous (Raynolds, 9/25/18), and WE (4/1/19), + the ff'ing '19 Contest results: Gold @ Critics Challenge & Silver @ S.F. Chronicle. [This vendor's (closeout?) $14.99 would appear to be the only current source other than the winery itself.]
