This is far from perfect but all the stuff going on in the glass is exciting. Those signs of the warm vintage haunt the outskirts. The hints of mineral, fresh cut citrus, juicy acids, florals and pith make you forget the riper fruit qualities hanging around. Or maybe they make them part of the greater good. In any case, I can't call this harmonious but all the notes are here and I don't care. Skill on display here in terms of harvest and winemaking.

A bit of a different experience than some other tasters. Upon opening, this was suprisingly round and lactic, and not in a pleasant way. Let it sit in the fridge the next night, and then opened a 2017 if I was just tasting the vintage. It seems I was.
Overly ripe golden apple and lemon remained, and still a loud butter and cream element that lends to a rather unbalanced wine that somehow leaves a bitter taste. Perhaps due to a lack of acidity.
Maybe I would be more positive if I wasn’t looking for a chablis, but I didn’t love it. Would suggest drinking it a bit colder than usual.

Seeing 2018 on a bottle of Chablis sets certain expectations. While this wine showed extra breadth and richness, it still carried the seashell and salt spray elements, and it was only in the fruit expression and mouthfeel that the warm vintage came into play. Rather than lemon zest it was lemon cream, and the palate felt half way to Puligny than pure Chablis. Typicity aside this was still a lovely bottle of wine, just better used in situations that don’t call for the brisk acidity of a classically structured Chablis. No regrets having more, and now I have an understanding of what situations will best utilize the wine.

Beautiful Chablis. It might have been a hot year, but this cuvée is beautiful with many years ahead of it.

Better than my last bottle. Not as rich, but still more richness than is typical in Chablis. Which isn’t a bad thing, it’s still a super elegant wine.
More salinity and sea shell notes. Really nice weight. This went really well with a pork loin and buerre blanc.
