  • 2nd of 2 bottles from a recent auction purchase.
I think I enjoyed this even more than the last bottle. Didn't notice the flamboyant aromatics as much on this bottle and the palate was nicely integrated with a complex, lovely flavor profile. In great shape and not drying out at all.

  • 13.5% abv. 40% Syrah, 37% Mourvedre, 23% Grenache. Recent auction purchase (1st of 2 bottles).
Nice strong aromatics with perfume qualities and a touch of funk. On the palate, quite flavorful with the same perfume and "Mourvedre funk" from the nose. Ripe and fairly rich but not jammy, with a full, round mouthfeel. More on the savory side. A bit of tannin still. Very enjoyable and in really good shape at 15 years. The perfumy aromatics were actually a little more than I prefer, as it seemed to dominate the experience and compete with the savory side of the wine.

  • This wine is good middle ground between "New" and "Old" world styles. On the nose, muted red fruits, anise and spice dominate. On the pallet, cherry, raspberry and some herbs show through giving way to the Syrah and Grenache spice in the finish. Not over the top fruity or over earthy and light tannins make this wine very drinkable and food friendly. I would personally like to see more of the spicy finish like past vintages, giving it a definite attitude which this particular year, in my opinion, is lacking.

  • Soft, supple red wine that drinks well in spite of, or because of, the light tannins that blanket the mouth. Round in every dimension, but not patricularly delineated. A nice example of what it is.

  • Sample glass at Vinotecca, cost $5.50. Syrah, Mourvèdre, and Grenache. Not aromatic or tasty, to me, at least at first. Acidic & spicy. After a few sips, it tastes better, a little. Low to mid good (82.5).
