Slow-O's for 90 minutes. This followed a 2005 Pax Griffin's Lair, which we preferred. This was quite good, but softer and less dimensional than the Pax, whose complex flavor profile was lacking here. Drink or hold.

Californians will make CA style wines just as the grapes grown in CA will feature the ground, air and water in which it grew. Don't expect N. Rhone, but I prefer it over Australia. Wish there was just a little more depth but can't complain at the $50 price range. I think these guys will just get better as they get older and if the the market is willing to accept the corresponding rise in price/quality, these can be blockbusters.

Popped and poured. Lots of mint, black fruits and meaty aromas. I noticed quite a bit of oak on the palate but was not intrusive. Quite good, even better after 4 hours.
I left a about a glass worth in the bottle for three days, the oak overwhelmed the fruit by that time.

Slow-O'd for two hours. Black fruit, smooth tannins, long finish. More austere, and more polished, than the 2005 Griffin's Lair from Pax.
