  • From small capped bottles poured for a zoom tasting on 1/25/24. Tasted double blind on 2/3/24. Color is med red ruby. Seems like a sibling of wine #1 (2019 Liaison). This is showing more on the nose but still thin - cherry, spices, rhubarb and some tree bark or birch beer or cola? Palate is similar - herbal and red fruited. Light but not light like the 19. Menthol and root beer. Hint of a little more substance towards the end palate but the finish tightens up again and is tart and lean. Somewhat pretty but lacking. Nose - 5/6, Palate - 5/6, Finish - 4.5/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1-1.5/2 = 15.5-16/20.

So my whole experience, with the 4 reds from small capped bottles with the wines stored there in the fridge for over a week, was odd and so I decided that the might have gone dormant and needed air. So I tried them the next night from burg bowls (Zalto and sensory) while the night before I used (Z universal & Gabriel gold)

2/4/24: This is actually showing now - some sweet raspberry and blackberry fruit, some nice dark spices, a little jammy and also some VA - some depth and some crunch. Quite pretty. Palate is tart and crunchy with some cranberry and pomegranate and rhubarb, a bit of citrus, some earth and spices and a strong savory note that’s kind of herbal and maybe a bit soy. Finish a some herbs and orange peel and rhubarb. Crunchy and tasty and a little volatile. Nose - 5-5.5/6, Palate - 4.5-5/6, Finish - 5/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1/2 = 15.5-16.5/20.

  • This is in a great spot. Earthy and fruit filled with a core of acidity that is balanced but gives the wine nice freshness. Drinking well. Will hold but also think it’s in a sweet spot.

  • Lovely nose with the classic E&M berry bonanza mixed with sweet balsamic vinegar. The palate a little bit simpler but still nice. Medium lenght.

  • From the solar 2018 vintage. There is a deep earthiness mixed with sour cherry. The sable tannin binds the elements together. Decant or give it a few hours air. Excellent.

  • Really good, ripe (from a restrained winemaker) Cali-like pinot again.

Not sure the difference between my bottles and many others. No VA here, very clean.
