Medium plus nose shows funk, rose stem, orange pith, barnyard, dried cherry. Palate gives very Burgundian style, hints to Nuits St. Georges, tart red fruits, orange citrus, high acidity, fantastic food wine I'd say. Very cool to try.

17 Henkenberg GG Spatburgunder Henkenberg is a small volcanic ridge completely exposed to the sun with nutrient-rich volcanic stony soil. 13%abv. The most approachable in the line up with immediate charming bright crunchy fresh red berries, peppery spices and flinty minerals. Elegant and so delicious!

100% Pinot Noir (Spätburgunder) small and mixed-berrried clones from an exposed ridge between Oberrotweil and Burkheim of mainly wearthered volcanic rock and loess with south and southwest exposure. Average yield of 40HL/ha. 50% de-stemmed. ~14-day open fermentation by natural yeast with frequent pumpovers. Aged ~12 months in new oak barrels (coopered in Burgundy with wood from Kaiserstuhl). Unfilitered. 13% Abv. Proprietor/Winemaker: Konrad Salwey
