A bit oaky upon opening so popped into a decanter for about an hour to open up. Dark crimson color. Nose of ripe blackberry and cassis and a bit of black plum. Definitely some vanilla and charred oak on the nose but seemed less in the forefront after decanting. Still mostly primary with perhaps a bit of cedar cigar box coming through as well. Only about medium acid and tannin on this cabernet so not built for long term aging. Still, very smooth and easy drinking cab. Quite tasty as well.

Paired with famous “Cardiff Crack” tri-tip beef. Nose and palate typical of Oakville valley fruit with a lovely ode to Bordeaux. Ripe, but restrained, red fruit with lots of earth and cigar box notes. A touch of pencil shavings gives it an old world feel. Could easily age another 5-7 years and maybe even 10 with proper cellaring. A truly classic Napa cab that pays homage to its French roots.

Another half bottle. No visible sign of boiling on the cork for this bottle, although the foil had dried up wine residue and wouldn't rotate. Smells like vinegar, so it seems this bottle was also damaged by heat. Unfortunate.

Had a half bottle purchased from a reputable half bottle merchant - the wine was not kept well. Signs of boiling all around the cork. I have another half bottle, hopefully in a better condition.
