  • Austria is famous for the high quality of its dry white wines. This Gobelsburger Riesling is one of the few wines made that is reasonably affordable and yet enjoyably tasty. Fruity, very aromatic, and complex. Overall, a great choice that lets you experience how good these wines are without bankrupting your wallet. Like most Rieslings, an excellent wine to age, that gets smoother and layered.

  • Deep lemon
An abundance of white flowers, jasmine, lemon blossom and touch of mint.
Light bodied with piercing acidity, delicate glassy texture wrapped in plenty of fruit. A pretty wine with lemon peel, cucumber and lime blossom. Cleansing, fragrant, with good length. Super refreshing, easy-drinking wine.

  • A low cost version of a high quality dry Riesling from Austria, that merits buying in quantity. Screwcap free of oxidation and taint, bright lemon and lime fruit, delicious acidity, and has a remarkably luscious texture. At 12 years, superb straight out of the just opened bottle, still beautifully sailing into a seemingly endless future, excellent by itself and a top wine with food.

  • Tasting this 10 year old Riesling as part of my periodic check of any wines 10 years old that we own in quantity, to determine whether they merit keeping longer or should be drunk sooner. Happy to report that this screw capped Austrian Riesling is another testimony to how screw caps are superior to corks for warding off premature oxidization. No brown in the color, remarkably fresh, vivid acidity, bright citrus and Stayman Winesap apple fruit, smoothly textured, well integrated, and looking fine to sail into the next decade.

  • The Riesling grape is famous for its high acidity, high fruit, and ability to age and improve with decades of storage. What Austria adds to Riesling is an unusually rich texture, especially for the wines made dry, with no or little residual sugar. What the Schloss Gobelsburg winery adds is this Gobelsburger value line featuring superb quality at a very modest price. The nose has a very inviting citrus fruit flavor. The mouth nails how to marry dryness with a rich feel. The long finish resonantly combines the mouth watering acid, fruit, and silk. One of the best wines with tomato based dishes.
