Drank next to the 2017 1er cru Groffier Hauts-Doix. This seems lighter in weight on the palate. Good sweetness ,good length , approachable easy drinking wine. Flavours of dark fruit, moderate tannins. no residual bitterness. Not a powerhouse wine but more subtle in all its aspects. Excellent wine. Prefer the 2018 as of now but will wait and see how the wines evolve. Second day you could taste the tannins but the sweetness and fruit flavours where subdued.

Slight floral/fruit nose, good acidity, great length, a wonderful sweetness / not sappy.. that is integrated with a good tannic spine, abundant dark fruit flavours primarily dark cherry. This was opened not vacuumed for about 3 hours before drinking. A portion of this wine also was left for a day. The next day this even better in all aspects and softer on the palate. Wonderful vineyard and great wine making from Groffier.

2018 Burgundy en primeur tastings (London): Soft red fruit with a nice fresh impression. Pure and delicate with great uplift and balance. Top class producer. Probably an early drinker. 91-93p.

Groffier owns 0.9ha in Les Hauts Doix, a Premier Cru located right next to Les Amoureuses. 25% new oak and 30% whole cluster. A beautiful fragrant of rose petals, charming red cherries and raspberries. Lovely fruit concentration with good acidity and elegance. One of my favourite wines at Robert Groffier. Very good. (88-89/100)
