  • Pre-game before dinner with Mr/Mrs Agelvis.....dark blackberry compote/fruit. Rustic in its feel with a 2 hour decant. Improved a point over time. Pretty classic cab nose with more violets as time passes. A nice wine, just not a blockbuster.

  • Threes hour decant. Very deep dark magenta color. Black currant, smoldering stewed plum, granite, cola, violet, and subtle baker’s chocolate. Very smooth, dry palate. Firm tannins on the medium long+ finish.

Brooding, but really great drinker. Wondering integration, but finish could be longer. Great start to an extended wine weekend with Mark1NPT.

  • Rian typically shows a little bit earlier compared to Levante and Ponente. That being said, I think I grabbed this one a couple of years too early. This is a monster of a Cabernet, but it needs another 2 years easily before it really starts to show a significant amount of integration. Uncorked to a black cherry and vanilla nose and palate. 2 hours of decanting in a decanter most certainly help to develop a black pepper finish, but this wine still has quite a bit of astringent young oak tannin. The wine did have a lot of herbal elements in the middle, and trended more to a red fruit presentation which I enjoy quite a bit. These usually trend to the dark side but is more around the 10 to 15-year mark when that happens. Definitely more in the youthful side of the equation. If I had to do it all over again, I would pull a 2010, 11, or 12 although I think most of the 2012s are asleep at the moment.

  • Needs 7-10 years laying down to mellow. Going to be a phenomenal wine.
