Decanted for 2 hours and it finally opened up nicely. Thanks for the advice James Kim. The nose was lovely with strong fruits - strawberry jam and mixed berries. Had nice acidity, minimal tannins, and the fruit was much more muted but still very interesting. Liked this, but still think it is worth it to spend the extra $ for the full Peay experience and taste nirvana.

Decanted. Now 1.5h after decant. Expressive,.almost rich aromas of mixed black and red cherries, baking spices, a bit of bark, green pine needles and earth. Palate w more red cherries than black cherries, nice baking spices, bark, some pine needles and a hint of earth. Really nice acids on medium+ body. Mild+ tannins on midpalate. Juicy moderately long finish with the acids lingering on the palate. Utterly crushable but with enough weight and just enough complexity to keep one's intellect engaged. This is nice a for a base level wine. I think this wine needs some air and benefited from the 1.5h decant to show it's stuff. This is always a nice QPR to me. 90+

Wanted to try Peay's "second" wine. Its half the price of their other pinots but frankly I'd rather spend double the money for Scallop Shelf and drink half as much. Tells me they do a very nice job sorting grapes at the vineyard to ensure Scallop Shelf is what it is. For $30+ you can get better wine from various Willamette producers. Peay is one of my favorite producers but this one is just okay.

Great stuff for the price. A bit heavier than the Scallop Shelf and a little more fruit forward but not bad and priced reasonably for what it is.

Always fresh and satisfying. Bright cherry and raspberry with a touch of baking spices.
