  Tasted double blind.
  
  Dark garnet to purple color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of barnyard, roasted meat, plums and a hint of dark cocoa. Jammy flavors of black berries, cherries and dried plums. Medium acidity, medium tannin, full bodied. Drink now.
  
  My guess was a 2018 California Syrah. Oops.

  Decanted for 30 mins.
  Appearance: Garnet, slightly brown, almost like a reddish bark color. Fine transition to the rim. Rim was very red, like Ferrari red but transparent.
  Nose: Immediate strawberry, strong strawberry. With layers of leather and coriander. When you take a good deep breath through the nose, it reminds me of being in a fresh lavender field.
  Palate: Well balanced, medium tannins and spicey. Once again I picked up on strawberry and coriander. It had medium length and was full bodied throughout. Nothing spectacular with mouth field and control, I wouldn't say its one dimensional but close to it. There was some faint minerality, maybe from the 'old' vines, whatever that means. The spiciness was building in the glass and decanter well 1 hour into the tasting or at that point drinking.
  Overall: I would say its not bad, I wish it had more dimensions and notes to pick up on. Not great but not bad either.

  This wine is simply a call of value. There is nothing wrong with it, but there are certainly much better ones out there. If it were $8 it would be a good deal.
