To date none of the six bottles I purchased from WineAccess back in 2008 has been very good. This was probably one of the better ones, the tannic grip seems to be loosening and the heavily charred oak seems to be finally integrating. The dark charred earth is still leading, but there is some spicy red currant, dark dried cherry, dehydrated raspberry, and cocoa powder underneath. Plenty of tannin and acid, but will the austere fruit last? Shortish finish. Overall the purchase was disappointing at best.

Classic older Bordeaux. Moderate to little fruit on the front, still quite a bit of earth in teh structure, and a soft finish of cloves and wood. Perhaps 5 years past it's prime.

It's easy to see why this wine has so many low scores, it's just not very good and doesn't appear to be coming around. Fifth of six bottles purchased back in 2008. None of the prior bottles have been very appealing, but I thought back in 2012 when I last tried this, it might come around....no such luck....
Virtually undrinkable on day one even with a two hour decant. Left in the decanter overnight and poured back in the bottle this morning and tried again tonight. More approachable on day two, but still hard and tough. I'm guessing the wine maker used heavily toasted or burned oak as the flavors are of burnt cherry and stewed plum. Still lots of tannin, and acidity, but with burned fruit, the wine is unbalanced. I may try the last bottle in about 10 years, but I guessing it won't improve.

Enjoyed with Kate while watching The Voice. This wine spoke of richness and terroir, a Bordeaux in full throat, ready for prime time.
