Very typical Napa Zin. Medium-dark, brambly and with a slathering of oak. A slightly drying finish from a bit too much alcohol: 15%. Like many high alcohol Zins, best to enjoy younger rather than older before the charming fruit of youth disappears behind age and alcohol — like many people!

Nose of spice and a touch of earth. Palate had cocoa, weak red fruits, and a touch of oak. WHERE'S THE PEPPER? Given that this also has 5% Petite Sirah, the lack of pepper is disappointing. My wife used one word: bland.

Light purple color. Suave nose of baked cherries and plum cake with violets, sweet clove, vanilla and spicy pepper. Full-bodied but fresh with blackberries and cherry pie, with some moderate acidity to balance things out. Spicy pepper, leather, roasted red pepper, with clove and vanilla. The cedar is a bit heavy-handed, but other than that, this is solid.
