Opened, poured a bit for a taste, and then drank about 30 minutes later. Paired with food (grilled chicken, fregola with a tomato-onion sauce, and green beans, in case you were wondering). Enjoyed on a sailboat on Lake Erie. Tasted along with the 2018 Loring Cortada Alta. Dark purple. Wonderful nose of dark fruit, with a hint of black pepper and some spice notes. Rich, dark fruits, but not candied. There is a backbone of spice and pepper that gives this depth. Added notes of dried orange peel. Sufficient acidity to carry the fruit. Shows some tannins on the finish. Quite enjoyable. In contrast, the Loring was a bit lighter in weight and fruit, and showed a slight sweetness. Both wines were delicious.

The wine is medium purple in the glass and looks fresh. The nose is reticent with notes of deep cranberry and forest.
The wine enters the palate with a light and fresh flavor but quickly expands to reveal extracted flavors of ripe cranberry and pomegranate with savory orange and mint in the background. Medium-minus acidity with a medium finish. Delicious wine. We’d score it 90 but it’s a bit extracted for our preferences. Others will love this wine.

Rich red fruit, almost cherry pie on the nose. On the palate, still lovely red fruit with some orange zest zing with nice acidity. This reminds me of Sonoma Coast than SLH, but that is a good thing to me.

Delicious as usual. Plenty of fruit, but not cloying, long finish. Great with food.
