Nothing shy about this bad boy, with gobs of ultraripe black fruit that could easily be mistaken for California Pinot Noir, except for the refreshing mineral notes on its medium finish, plus nearly enough acidity there as well.

A well executed wine in the familiar style of the vigneron. The destemmed fruit is very clean and fresh, with the cool minerality of the terroir, a welcome bit of extra sunshine from the warm vintage and a well judged touch of slightly sweet wood. Very attractive.

Similar to my previous note, but there is a wonderful oily, zesty, orange note in addition to the tight red berry fruit, which adds a richness and comfort which is very pleasing.

There is a remarkable minerally salinity which pervades this wine, and even though it is from the Hautes-Côtes, it is a lot fresher and more floral than I had expected in this warm vintage. Even if there is a certain plushness and generosity, the fruit is in the redcurrant and cranberry register. In keeping with the Patrice Rion style, the oak is ever so slightly sweet and this brings a nice hint of comfort to the wine. Energy and length are very good. I quite like the style.
