The wine is coming together. It has the sweet, ripened fruit and toasted vanilla notes on the nose that draw my mind to the barrel room. I find these wines truly delicious. They are bombastic and unapologetic but do offer some menthol and eucalyptus notes along with the fruit. Some pencil shaving comes through on the finish. I really enjoyed the 2018 cabs at RM.

Friday Night Brown Bagger (R&R's): Double blind. Deep inky color with notes of blueberry liqueur, chocolate, cassis, kirsch and oak spice. Develops licorice, vanilla and mocha notes as it opens in the glass. Loads of ripe black fruit on the palate, with a sweet liqueur-like quality to the fruit. Hints of brown sugar as well. Seems like a big 2018 Napa cabernet. 91+ pts. (R&R)

Intense nose, wild berry fruit. Dark staining red color, lots of sediment. Huge wine. Young. Better to wait a few more years.

Still needs time in bottle even with an overnight. Clumsy right now with a will of tannin/acid obscuring the fruit. Give it 5 years.

Excellent after an 8 hour decant or wait until at least 2023. Dark, decadently complex fruit. Steak and potatoes go perfectly with it.
