Beautiful deep purple color. Aromas of dark fruit. Not surprisingly, I detected dark subtle fruit flavors on the tongue. However, in addition to the currant and blackberry that I often get in Napa Valley CS, there was red cherry. Very cool. Further back on my tongue I found a sensation that almost suggested unsweetened chocolate. Slight level of tartness on the edges of my tongue. A fairly mellow wine--very sedate levels of acid and tannin. Full-bodied but not what I would call a "powerhouse."

That’s pretty friggin delicious. I’m surprised at how much oak is still around at this point. I think the “graphite” notes speak to this. The nose is otherwise clean, and relatively subdued, with hints of violet florals. The intensity of flavor on the palate is just off the charts and the acidity is puckering and bright. Nothing flabby here. Compact berry compote with cassis and rather high acid for a valley floor cab. I recall the signature of the warm, dry 2015 vintage being low yields with small clusters but ripe fruit. This wine shows that in spades.

Absolutely spectacular! Although still young, this wine jumped out of the class with rich expansive black cherry fruit with cassis flavors. One of the best Thomas Rivers-Brown wines tasted.
Big difference from last bottle/note in 2019, this is now ready to drink. Tons of black fruit shows it still has potential to evolve, the finish was medium-long with some graphite notes. I didn't get the herbal notes some of the others mentioned. If I had another bottle I'd let it sit for another 4+ years and see what happens as more tertiary flavors come out.

Still has some green vegetal notes from the oak. Nicely balanced juicy American cab at the top of its game otherwise.
