  • Tasted after a two hour decant.
Dark, opaque ruby in colour with aromas of pleasant herbal/vegetal, slightly earthy/oaky sweet black fruit & a hint of cured meat.
On the palate, full bodied black fruit, tart blackberry/boysenberry/blueberry, cassis, slightly herbal & earthy, smoked meat, with well integrated oak and medium acidity & high soft tannins. The finish is long to pepper & a crushed gravel sort of minerality.
This is lovely, balanced, complex wine that has displayed definite progress since my prior tasting.
The heel of the bottle still tastes great on night #2.

  • Deep inky ruby in colour with lovely aromas of sweet black fruit/cassis, sweet French oak & earthiness.
On the palate, bold flavours of black fruit, cassis, blackberry, blueberry, vegetal/herbaceous notes with background oak, medium acidity & medium to high slightly angular tannins. The finish is long with spicy black pepper.
This wine tastes lovely now, but has great medium term cellar potential.
