PnP that's open/ready and means business; fully open at one hour mark. Delicious. Nearly five years since last enjoyed, it's in a great place...the early days of what will be an enjoyable and beautiful plateau for many, many years. Bright cherry, citrus, pomegranate, tobacco, some soil. Really elegant entry, med/med+ body, lots of fresh acidity - this is just lovely. Already offering a long finish, with very fine, sweet tannins. Excellent. Drink 2023-2040+. 14,5% abv. Remains highly recommended
Didn't note color. On nose, savory tobacco, menthol, pine resin and sweet/sour cherry. Medium+ body, medium tannins and medium+ acidity with a very long finish. Palate similar to note and red-fruit dominant. I really enjoyed this. 94+/-

First of a case and first Maté since reading Ferenc Maté’s book “A Vineyard in Tuscany” having enjoyed previous vintages.
Good nose with tomato fruit and leaf, leather, a little spearmint. Good intensity on the palate with tangy red cherry, a touch of oak spice and balsamic. Really long finish, notably so and tannins that are present and noticeable but well behaved. Delicious.
This estate has been garnering better and better reviews each vintage and is still good value.

Didn't note color. On nose, tobacco, savory spices, menthol, cranberry, sweet cherry and licorice. Palate similar to nose - high acidity, medium tannins, medium+ body and very long finish. Better on night 2. 93-94 range.

A little austere on day 1 despite a few hours in the decanter, with a harsh tomato-ey note that I sometimes find in bad Chianti Classicos. On day 2 and 3 it was much more open with bright cherry (no tomato), herbs and baking spice.
