Pale ruby with garnet hues. Medium intensity on the nose. Rose, menthol and unripe cherries. Medium plus acidity and tannins. Nice grippy finish. Will hold next bottle for 1-2 years.

Pretty much love every Luigi Oddero wine I’ve have. Not really underrated as a producer but certainly don’t get the hype they deserve. This one is incredibly savory (truffle) on the nose but ripe and juicy on the palate (red fruited). Fantastic balance and obviously less tannic and more approachable than the Barolo. Probably hold another 2-5 years.

Effusive raspberry (fresh picked, leaf tea, potpourri, liqueur, preserves), rhubarb, lingonberry, hibiscus tea, white tea, rosemary, fresh bay, rose hip, and light petrol on the bouquet and palate. The alcohol in harmony with the bouquet.
Generous and expansive, indicating balanced, phenolic ripeness. Indeed, this appears to be a feature of 2017 Barbaresco and Barolo tasted to date. Another vintage feature: velvety to grainy tannins, truckloads of them, in this wine, and in others. Similarly, acid seems to be medium plus. Time will tell about long-term aging potential, but I would not hesitate to hold bottles for a decade+.
Unlike 2009 (another ripe vintage), which tended to feature heat, alcohol seems well integrated. A unique vintage for Piedmont Nebbiolo, and decidedly enjoyable.

Same note as before but with an overnight there’s a beautiful mint not that emerges. Great balance all around.
