Definitely the most well-integrated bottle so far. Still with firm tannins that aren't balanced by either a sufficient level of fruit or acidity. Generally enjoyable but far from impressionable.

My integrity would be questioned, if I gave this wine any higher a score, for as much as I wanted to love it, it just wasn't that impressionable. It is clearly a wine of respectable lineage and handling in the winery but not nearly a head-turner or one that would stand out (nearly at all) in a lineup of similarly-priced ($75-$90) Napa cabs. Great color. Wonderful, aroma-typical Spring Mountain earth-dominant, flinty fruit, with well-structured tannins; making for a smooth finish...perhaps too smooth. Upon further analysis & contemplation, the wine came off as patently"simple"; an impression garnered mainly from the shallow (almost watery) mid-palate, which could well be the result of a lack of any notable acidity. Returning to my basic tenet of value, put this wine next to a bottle of the '04 Ch. Chevalier and the latter would probably emerge as the favored; at less than 1/4 the price, not even a question!

Nice wine, but not the depth, fruit or minerality that this has in a good vintage. Pales in comparison to the 2001. 89-91.
