I've drank it 15 mins after opening, left over the next day, and decanted, and wasn't impressed any of the times. I've enjoyed other Chronic Cellars wines and enjoy Paso and Zin but this one just misses the mark. The fruit is dull.

Not a bad example of Zin /for the price/, with some fun, forward character and little hints of complexity, even if it's unapologetically jammy (not always my favorite) and a little overdone on the palate. I think a lot of the appeal of this for me was that it was enjoyed after a disappointing encounter with a more expensive Cabernet that had turned out to be super green, underripe and harsh, so this slid into my palate DM's a little too easily- still no shame.
Pretty nice, sweet nose with a lot of super-ripe fruit and without too much heat- a mix of blue/purple fruits with slightly brighter, red-fruit preserves, definitely jammy but also with a nice dose of cinnamon-inflected oak and even something approaching pepper, or meatiness- was having trouble deciphering this until I saw Wine Enthusiast mentioning "beef jerky" in their review. It's an extremely subtle accent but really makes the nose inviting for an inexpensive Zin.
Sadly the palate is a lot less interesting, with mostly jammy purplish fruit and not much else. There's enough jammy quality that it approaches raisin at times, really not my favorite. But it also has echoes of better ripe fruit, baked plums and whatnot- not a lot of acid, but just enough that it doesn't feel super cloying, and the tannins are pretty nice- chunky on the finish and lending some good structure, but not too harsh most of the time.
Fair QPR for a ripe, jammy wine- pretty well made in the style for the money and not trying to be anything it's not. A few bucks more gets you others in the same style like Daou Pessimist, Numanthia Termes, Torbreck Woodcutter Shiraz, others with much better QPR.
