brvino Wine Tasting #6 - Cabernet Sauvignon (blind) (brvino Undergraduate Wine Club at UCLA): Deep ruby-garnet colour. On the nose, it’s nice and representative: blackberry jam, blackcurrant, anise, and allspice. There is some sweet but well integrated vanilla, too, with some smoke. Coffee notes come out after some time. Grippy tannins on the palate with high acidity. Some liquorice root and leather on the palate with prunes. The finish was short at first with unsweetened plum notes. 8-/18

Forward cabernet nose somewhere between new world and moden Bordeaux tilting toward the former in its focus on fruit. Lovely cassis fruit on the palate with good balance. Medium length finish. Good. Will age.

Medium nose shows spice layers, hint of green pepper, black fruit, rustic feel. Palate gives medium plus body, black fruits, dusty feel, a little shorter on the finish than I'd like, but still nice value.

I used to sell this wine. I think for the under $20 category it over delivers on nose, character, and quality. This vintage is very good.
Color. Dark saturated red.
Nose. Cherries, cocoa, Graham cracker, bran, earth. Very enjoyable.
Palate. Cherries, cocoa, oak, vanilla, tannins. The finish isn't longer than 20 seconds, but very enjoyable .
