  • Pretty nice. Needed about an hour to open up. Not a lot of sediment. Dusty tannins a bit on the attack but mostly very smooth now. Showing a lot of cigar box now, but with red berry fruit and a lot(!) of black pepper to it. Something else that's kind of spicy but in a sweet way - though the wine is by no means sweet. I would be tempted to call that licorice but I don't really think that's it. The finish is pretty long.

I'm sad this is my last bottle.

  • Needed some air but after a bit showed some red berry fruit, a little oak, but still quite present dusty tannins.

  • Dark fruit, anise, bell pepper, earth, and subtle Bret on the nose. Lovely round palate, with both dark and red fruit, along with some nice cedar/woodsy notes. Nice acidity, medium-bodied. Poured via quick-decant and it's great right out of the bottle. 89/90

  • I agree with Prometheanfire; this was oaky and somewhat flabby on the first day. It came around by the second day though, adding structure and balance. It seems to be drinking at peak with lots of air.

  • This was rather terrible on day one with a mostly muted nose, present menthol aromas overlayering faint dark berry fruit, spruce wood, dried orange peel and liqourice. Palate kicked off with dark cherry fruit, slightly tart and carried on with mushy tannins and a metallic taste towards the finish. I was worried that this had already gone downhill but let the bottle sit corked for two more days and went back to it which is when the wine really took me by surprise. Much cleaner and more present it offered an enticing ripe nose of prunes, freshly cooked strawberry jam and hints of liqourice. Tannins seemed to have much more grip as well and the wine was much more firmly structured. Really enjoyed this on day three.
