  • A fusion of stringent power and pure inner elegance, as well as juice and thrilling uplift. The Boito 2016 convinces with its versatile details and beauty. The fruit is built in layers, ample with red & light purplish nuances and a strongly leading nerve & energy throughout. Definitely one of the most compelling Rizzi wines I've ever tasted.

  • Tasted with Jole Dellapiana at the family Cascina. This wine is made from a specific parcel of the Rizzi Vineyard in only the best vintages. Tasted right after the 2013 which had evolved a bit more and was simply stunning, this was a close second for me today. Pinot Noir like color. Effusive nose with florals, spices and fruit in gorgeous layers wafting from the glass. Great acid and tannic structure for the long haul but amazingly refined and elegant, more elegant than the 2013 perhaps which was a touch more forward. The palate was similarly precise and refined and expressive with rich savory fruit but not quite as much of the earthy mushroom and truffle notes as the 2013 at this stage in its development. Perfectly balanced with energy to spare. Wonderful!
