Augmented with 4% each barbera and petite sirah, this shows loamy red and black fruits, peppery, maybe a touch of eucalyptus--clearly zinfandel but distinctive and welcomely not 'the usual'. A favorite at the tasting.

An unusual Zinfandel blend with Petite Sirah and Barbera. A strong pepper nose is followed by a slightly unripe flavor profile with green pepper. It’s pleasant though and nice to try something a little different.

Some florals, metallic qualities — almost a high-toned aluminum, oak spice, eucalyptus, singed meat, and red fruit. The oak definitely comes across clearly. Medium weight with some brightness on the palate — it has some leanness though there’s a touch of sweetness that feels a bit overt compared to the rest of the palate. Medium and ripe tannins, med/med+ body.
Good stuff — i felt a bit conflicted since I found it slightly out of balance but there was a fair amount going on and a decent amount of complexity on the nose.

Pretty disappointing on day 1, but improved to just OK on day 2. Not much Zin character.
