  • 14.5% alcohol; the Chardonnay grapes were grown in the Alexander Valley by JAC COLE and were vinted and bottled by NAKEDWINES.com, Acampo (near Lodi), CA; composite cork with 'Open Me' and 'Drink Me' printed at opposite ends, light to medium weight foil; fast legs, crystalline pale yellow; opened and kept in the fridge for 48 hours before tasting at approximately 11 degrees C; muted fruit-forward nose of alcohol, citrus, pears and kiwi; the first taste stirs up a tunnel on the tongue of soft fruit boring inward, an unexpected inner complexity in this wine; hints of sweet cherries and Yerba Buena; smooth through the long finish, with the inner complexity continuing below the surface; refreshing on a hot Florida fall afternoon, pair with soft cheeses, wild caught Coho salmon

  • June 2020

First evening, paired with baked chicken and stuffing (this was on the sweetish side) - wine was crisp and tart - very tasty. A little tarter (leaning toward bitter) with squash chips topped with Asiago.

Second evening, alone before dinner and pretty chilled - quite limey-tart. Paired with chile rellenos, less tart - very pleasant.

Third evening, paired with lamb chop and caprese - soft citrus-tart. With tortilla & melted cheddar - sweet-tart!

I'd saved a little to compare with Jac's Russian River Unoaked - paired with cod pan-fried in butter (slightly tart/minerally, very nice) and cauliflower pancake - another thank you to Carol Sarna - (less tart than with fish). In comparison, the Russian River was soft and smooth with both cod and cauliflower pancake. It was fun to be able to compare these two Chardonnays from different AVAs with the same meal!

Jac, thank you for adding another unoaked to your repertoire - both are very tasty!
