continuing it's downhill slide with time. i never took possession of my case purchase, nor pulled this from local offsite storage until quite a while after purchase. in hindsight, this was a big mistake. all indications are that this should have been drunk young. tonight it's nose was a bit upleasant, and the wine never unravelled into much, even over 3+ hours. our last bottle, drink up (quickly) if you have any.

oily lemon and toasted marmalade; maybe too much oak. it was tasted over three hours, but not decanted. i like the underlying fruit, but the midpalate was too heavy.

it's not often that a calichard needs some air, but this wine definitely evolved for the better over the first half hour, and continued to improve as the bottle was drained. some very fresh lemon/lime, and a rather cantakerous amalgam of acidity/minerals/oak. in the end, i came to appreciate it, and i'll be looking to open another from our case to see if the notes are consistent.
