  • PnD let air for 30mins

Consistent with previous note and it got better.

  • Clear medium light red, bright. Nice nose, mid weight, cassis, green pepper, peppercorns and a bit of olives. Dry delicious red berry and herb flavours and a dry acid driven finish.

  • Tasted after a two hour decant & double aeration.
Medium to dark ruby in colour with aromas sweet black fruit, herbal, dried flowers & a hint chocolate.
On the palate, medium bodied tart red/black fruit, blackberry/blueberry/cherry, floral/violets/lavender, sweet tobacco, licorice, well integrated oak, high acidity, high slightly angular tannins with a long finish to sour cherry, pencil shavings & pepper.
Good flavour complexity here, but this wine is pretty aggressive & needs more cellar time.

  • Another Burrowing Owl , British Columbia red.
On nose:red plum and tomato plant.
On palate: above flavour notes with a follow through of dry licorice , very present light tannins, with additional notes of light oak, raspberry leaf, walnut skins, and a warm note of Kona coffee and cigar tobacco.
Lean , elegant, still young at 4 years of age, after a 3 hour decant ......a quality product that will benefit from another 5 years in cellar.....a very different animal from the 2019 Merlot sampled a few months back....may score a 92, down the road.

  • Dark red in the glass but can still see your hand through it. Strong strawberry with subtle pepper aromas. Pleasant but present tannins, easy acidity, red fruit flavours, smooth finish. This is a winner for me, it was bright and refreshing to drink.
