My first experience with a high quality Australian Cab. As expected inky purple, with a rim of cherry fruit. Upon initial pour, the nose is very pronounced and multi dimensional. Starting with black fruit compote, blueberry and minty cassis, followed with air by hints of dusty coco, herbs, forest and perhaps some tar. On the palate there is a hefty nature as expected that blunts some of the refinement I found in the nose. More boysenberry, fruit compotes, chalky and loamy mouth feel which I found to be unique. Some hints of lead, clay and tea leaves as well. Overall shows a unique form of cab sauv with good terroir of the region. Stylistically however lacks refinement and structure.
