An exclusive blend by Ciabot Berton made from this excellent vintage, specifically for our 150th celebration. With grapes from the historic hillside vineyards of La Morra including a proportion from Rocchettevino which is at 400m above sea level, this wine is superbly perfumed with cherry and red apple, violets and wood spice, balanced by the firm but elegant tannins. The long and complex finish really mark this wine as very special.

Initially there is a melange of black cherry and damson on the initial attack, later combining tar and liquorice. The vibrant tannins simply melt away to reveal a silky smooth texture. This is a wine with dimension and depth with an impressive length of finish. Still youthful and vigorous this has a long way to go on its journey but is very much approachable and enjoyable now. I recently sampled the 2013 vintage which I enjoyed enormously, but this has the potential to supersede it by some measure. It was my first introduction to the 2016 Barolo vintage and I am truly impressed. CHP 91 pts

Opened far too early. So, brick edge and pale. Tar, flowers and red fruit. Ripe tannins and very dry. Needs a bit more time to fully integrate.

OK, but as often with Barolo not to me generally what others seem to suggest.
