Note: I use a sale on which 85 represents a very good wine.
Just shy of the magical 90. This bottle was not quite as sweet (to me) as others have noted. Perhaps the extra time has brought about a change. Nevertheless, easy drinkin'. Fairly traditional Riesling palate, albeit aged Auslese.
Drank over a few days. Remained stable,.
One more in the cellar. Will drink in the near future.

Great green apple acidity buckling up against light apricot, peach and melon flavored palate. Notable residual sugar, but arguable if its body is thick enough to push it into true dessert wine territory. Enjoyable whatever class it falls into, but I don't see this getting any better.

Very sweet, but well integrated at this point. It needs some big island or Asian flavors to balance that huge sweetness. Some petrol and still some pretty good acidity. Ginger candy, orange marmalade and the acidity almost seems bubbly. Classic German Riesling nose of Asian spices and orange marmalade. Even those who had it years ago kind of got it right, seems more like BA or * level than Auslese.

This is firmly in desert wine territory. Incredibly rich palate dominated by white cherries and sweet peaches. Acid is barely keeping up with the sweetness. Still very enjoyable on its own, but tough to pair with food. Could this have been at its best in its early years, or maybe my tastes are changing?

(MONCHHOF Erd Pra Aus) Germany Dear Friends, A few last minute confirmations on a post-July 4th Monday afternoon... My guess is that most collectors are not thinking about heavy-duty Auslese in July or August and that presents an opportunity for us (and you). While 2006 will always be stuck in the shadow of 2005 and the lithe-light of 2007 it is (by far) the best Auslese vintage of the last decade. Many of the old-timers believe it is the finest Auslese and above vintage since the 1950's - that is a strong statement. Both wines below represent extreme price/value and would be interesting corner-stones of any collection meant for the long term. This 2-wine parcel has been impeccably stored since release and is on the way to us - it will arrive in a few weeks. Both are FIRST COME FIRST SERVED up to 6/person until we run out: 2006 Monchhof (Robert Eymael) Erdener Pralat Riesling Auslese 2006 Fritz Haag Brauneberger Juffer Riesling Spatlese (Even though this is a Spatlese, I don't think any of you will mind) Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Germ6534 Gemr6535

Very tasty juice, though ultimately balanced a little too much toward the sweet side.
