Cracked black pepper, dark plum, herbs and cherry along with some earthy notes all waft up on the nose. Medium-bodied with good concentration this feels like a serious, quite surly Syrah at this moment in time with a beautiful core of pure dark fruits, savoury notes and an elegant, poised finish. It is certainly on the fresher end of the spectrum, drinking nicely now but will develop and hold for a number of years.

This drink is like sipping on liquid velvet - smooth, luscious, and oh-so-inviting. You'll dive headfirst into a sea of fruitiness, with plums & berries leading the way. They're the life of the fruity fiesta!
Now, it's not one of those drinks with a Ph.D. in flavor complexity. It's more like the friendly, approachable guest who's always up for a good time, even if it doesn't bring an encyclopedia of flavors along.
But hey, who needs complexity when you've got pure, straightforward fun?
Pair this Syrah with hearty dishes such as a mushroom risotto, and you'll experience an exquisite marriage of flavors.

Te Mata (Dan Murphy's, Lane Cove): Medium minus intensity aromas of blackberry, cream, sweet spice, a little peppery underpin, meaty notes with time; almost a little biltong note. Medium plus intensity acidity, very slightly sour, muted blackberry, red berry notes, very persistent but super lightweight tannins, tiny pepper and meat notes. Pleasant enough but offensively expensive for what it is.

Typical crimson. Pepper, lightly spiced. Harmonious and velvety but lacking mid palate depth and finish right now. Hold.
