Hailing from the higher elevations of the Chalk Hill AVA, this red blend is a delightful mashup of California fruit with Bordeaux style. Comprised of all 5 primary Bordeaux varietals, Right Bank expressions unravel from the glass with aromas of cool blue fruits, purple flowers and earthy tobacco. The palate demonstrates nice refinement and balance, with notes of ripe plum, black currants, bakers chocolate and a touch of oak spice. Baby powder tannins linger along with a mild spice note on the finish. This shows well upon open, but I’d suggest a short 20-30 minute decant and it’s ready to go.

5yrs after harvest is when this wine seems to be entering its prime. Ripe currant, balanced and nice tannin. Not the over extracted style of the valley floor and hard to wait a few years or more after release, but the reward is there for a bargain price. I would guess modern style Bordeaux.

Plum, cassis, black cherry, tobacco, cigar box, dark chocolate. Medium-full body. Moderate, velvety tannins. Medium-plus finish. Drink now or in the next 4-5 years.

Great wine & price point. Nice drinking but could still age this for awhile.

Restrained dark fruit with some tobacco notes. As others mentioned, it is ready to go with a short decant. I enjoy Calluna's wines.
