Community Tasting Notes (5) Avg Score: 91.3 points

  • After 6 hours in decanter. Beautiful nose of decaying pine needles, hints of eucalyptus, dried flowers and red cherries. Medium-bodied, this is structured and lean. Iron filings, terracotta, sour cherries on the palate. Moderate level of tannin with med-high acidity. This will be interesting to follow as I'm not sure this has the fruit and stuffing to age long-term. Not liking this bottle as much as the last. This is much better with food. Drink now with long decant - 2030 91-92

  • More approachable after opening than last few bottles. Good wine

  • More garnet than ruby in color. Early on there was a dominant methanol aroma than eventually blew off, leaving strawberry and vanilla notes. On the palate there is sour cherry and spice. Finishes long.

  • Moderate ruby red with orange hues at edges. Tight upon opening, but after three hours in the decanter there was red fruit, vanilla, tobacco and spice on the nose. The palate is tart cherry with nice acidity.

  • after 4 hours in decanter, this is just modestly aromatic but what's there is quite nice. Pine forest sous bois, cedar, ripe black cherries baked with rosemary and thyme, and a slight pressed flower/potpourri aroma. Med-full bodied, this is quite tannic and dense. More bright black as well as red cherry and plum fruit on the palate with hints of blood orange and balsamic. This needs quite a few years to unwind and soften. I hope there's enough fruit and fat to support this iron fist of tannin! Drink 2026-2036 93+
