  • Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from Napa Valley, California, 14.8% ABV, not mevushal. Appearance was a black core with royal purple hues at the edge and heavy viscosity. The nose on opening was searing black and blue fruits, which gave way after several hours to a more balanced and nuanced classic California Cabernet nose: rich blackberries, blueberries, black cherries, raspberries, crushed violets, menthol, ink, pencil lead, toasted oak, loam, tar, baking spices, and cloves. On the palate it is big and bold with rich, earthy fruit and big yet approachable tannins which are well integrated. Cassis, black cherries, sun-dried tomato, fresh tilled dirt, espresso, baking chocolate, oak and dill. Finish is long with a mild bitterness with notes of cacao and oak. Very nice Napa Cabernet, and while approachable now, should improve as the tannins settle down and further integrate into the wine. 92.
