  • Another geeky pleasure -- my first taste of nascetta, a rare white grape variety from Piedmont. The wine is slightly orange, not particularly aromatic, with high acidity, weight, and a floral profile. The closest familiar analogue might be Alsatian pinot gris. I would definitely buy more, and I would be interested to see how it ages -- the acidity and weight suggest that it could go for quite a while. I would also be interested to see what other producers make of this grape, if they can turn it into a more delicate wine. My Milanese friend loved this one.

  • Fascinating and riveting wine. Redolent of sweet peach and tart apricot. Really complex. Lovely texture and slightly tannic. It will be fascinating to follow this wine through to maturity.

  • Apple juice and papaya on the nose. On the palate, yellow apple, papaya, lemon, and notes of lychee and grapefruit on the medium to long finish, with strong acidity. The contrast between tropical fruit and citrus makes this somewhat unusual. This was a good value at a little over $30.

  • I will hold off on providing a score as I have no meaningful experience with this varietal and found it to be quite unusual. It reminded me of a Spanish Albariño more than any other varietal I recall. The most notable aspect is the finish, which is long and pronounced. I look forward to trying again.

This wine is electric. The nose is floral and pronounced. On first sip the fruit just jumps out. Crisp green apple and citrus is right there with a pleasant acidity. But there is also a layer of honey giving this a luxurious mouthfeel which tames the acidity. The finish was medium in length but surprisingly satisfying.
My first experience with this grape was with the 2018 vintage at the winery. I was shocked at how good it was. When I bought the 2019 it was always in the back of my mind whether it was a fluke. But this bottle exceeded any expectations. Maurizio has proven once again he is one of the most exciting young winemakers in Italy.
